It’s a 360 Arcadians Live vs EARF mash-up this week, as Marcus and Karf welcome Mike and Ryan from our sister show, Elite Arcadian Review Force, to pontificate briefly on a rather spiffing new video game that just came out; something called Grand Theft Auto IV. Three of us were actually playing around in the game while we were recording, so expect dead air since this is unedited. However, don’t expect much coherency – but then again, if you were, why do you listen to us again?

Look, it’s only been a few days since the last show. Yes, we know that one was late. But in the absence of any interesting news – interesting to us, at least – we once again take a leaf out of SModcast’s book and offer you some degree of nerdish banter. Ben’s discussing his mathematically precise way to class, Karf’s getting militant about Jenna Fischer, Marcus is considering counteracting gas prices by turning into a biker and Elaine’s lamenting her self-enforced sobriety. Speaking of which, we think we’ve got the makings of a horrific drinking game. Please don’t kill yourselves trying it. Maiming yourselves is, however, fine, and maiming others is positively encouraged. Note: the preceding statement might not be entirely true.

Episode 43: What's in a Name?

Several days late, but we’re here. Where’s GTA4? Fid was so late he didn’t even turn up until halfway through the show. GTA4, mmm. News continues to be slow, but we dredged up what we could… so this week, we try and sound enthusiastic about things that aren’t GTA4. Halo 3’s Legendary map pack, for example. Then GTA4, and more GTA4. Nintendo with Wii Fit and Mario Kart (neither of which are GTA4). Activision said something about COD4, which has the wrong letters but the right number. They have a new Spider-Man game coming too, which doesn’t seem to be GTA4. Burnout Paradise isn’t GTA4 either, and TDU was better. Soul Calibur on XBLA didn’t get a GTA4-sized announcement, but should. Bionic Commando Rearmed is getting an M-rating, like GTA4. Then, listener mail and NPDs that actually broke as we were recording! So, how about that GTA4 then?

What can ya say about a show so off the rails that it can’t rightfully be considered a numbered, canonical episode? Tons! But none of it would make sense until you listened to it and let your ears fill up with the madness that is episode 42½. Let it sink in, fellas. Be assured that each and every pre-show is just like this, and you shall never hear the greatness until we deem news unworthy again. And we get slightly bored. And feverish. And Fid’s skin starts peeling off again.

Episode 42: The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything

Two girls, one podcast? That’s right. This week, Edie Sellers of the GameHounds.net podcast joins as many Arcadians as could make it to the sesh for this, our forty-second foray into the world of recorded internets. It’s a good week for it, too, as there’s plenty of weird and wacky news for everyone to get their insomniac and/or hungover teeth into. Seriously, when an unfinished $60 expansion pack has shipped two million copies in two weeks, it’s bad enough, but when UT3 and Rock Band both get free awesome added to them it makes it even worse. Ikaruga and Darwinia are both coming to XBLA, quote “soon” unquote, as is the rather fascinatingly-priced Penny Arcade game with the unfeasibly long title. Speaking of pricey, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has hit Euroland, Montana state employees are demanding Minesweeper and the British media is telling fibs about the Byron Report. This, plus listener mails and most of the crew playing old games that are new to them? You couldn’t ask for more. Well, you could, but you wouldn’t get it. And not an April Fool’s prank to be found, since Fid screwed up the forums so much it almost broke the entire internet.

Episode 41: Do You Like Horny Bunnies?

It’s hard to tell what’s more intriguing this week: what we’ve been playing or what Fid’s thinking about playing. It’s probably bad enough that he appears to be hating on a dearly-loved game. The new hotness discussed this week includes Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Mass Effect’s Bring Down The Sky DLC pack, and Metal Gear Solid Mobile as discussed by this week’s special guest star, forum legend Mxzylpt (or Moxy, as we call him for obvious reasons). In news, we go off on things like Vegas 2’s buggy PS3 version, Battlefield Bad Company’s beta weirdness, Wii Fit’s pricetag, Rock Band on a new platform, Halo’s Heroic maps going free, the just-announced MGS4 limited edition (wherein we find out who the MGS whores really are), and Elaine’s weekly Street Fighter update. And to top it all off, we have listener mail again. It really is an action-packed week in Arcadia, so grab a beer and get comfy.

If in doubt, get a friend to help out. With Elaine and Mike both sadly AWOL despite everyone’s best efforts, the remaining Arcadians rope in Seth “Chorazin” Dodson from our sister podcast, EARF. The end result, without either of the usual guiding hand type people to keep us on topic, is a rambling mess of incoherency that somehow covers stuff like Jack Thompson apparently advocating child molestation, Bully’s 360 issues, lots of Guitar Hero (some good, some bad, some ugly), the forthcoming Halo 3 Legendary map pack, and lots of random talk about stuff like Beyond Good & Evil and Persona 3. Lots. You have no idea how much. Really.
