A lone soldier stands before a tall building, equipped with a sledgehammer and an odd-looking backpack. The building, two floors in nature, stares back amidst an echo of explosions and gunfire from the battle around them. The soldier begins his work and with a single swing of the hammer, he creates a small hole in the first floor of the structure, through which he can see his enemy. He continues destroying the walls before him and before long, he sees his adversary inside the very building he is destined to fell. He takes fire from the man, but rather than return fire himself, he presses a small button on his backpack and is sent charging through the building before him like a rhino, sending the foundations flying in every direction as the second floor becomes the first and his enemy is crushed beneath it. This is not the game you remember. This is a new version of Geo-Mod. This is the multiplayer beta of Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Xbox Live Arcade is home to a vast majority of games that can simply be described as bad. Therefore, when a high-profile game gets released on XBLA, gamers have been known to get rather excited. Ever since the announcement of Castle Crashers in 2006, gamers have been waiting for a chance to play the cooperative action seen in screenshots and videos. Thankfully for The Behemoth, it won't be as tough of a sell for the casual audience, as their target for the game has just grown in size with the decision to release the game on Nintendo's Wii Ware service.

This week, Activision released a promo video for their new foray into the Guitar Hero money-pile. If you were expecting Aerosmith or even the rumored Beatles, you would be very wrong -- this new beacon of originality is coming to the Nintendo DS. Let me say this one more time. Activision announced Guitar Hero: On Tour for the Nintendo DS. Now let that sink in. Brings up a curious visual, doesn't it? Even more curious is their peripheral.

I imagine that right now, you're feeling a bit like Alice – tumbling down the rabbit hole? I see it in your eyes. You have look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Unfortunately, this is far from the truth. You're not dreaming or jacked into the Matrix. Activision really did announce Guitar Hero: Aerosmith – an entire game dedicated to one band of debatable quality.
From the press release:
Steven Tyler says, "Any band that can go from 'Don't Want to Miss A Thing' (Aerosmith's #1 smash hit) to the ass-kicking 'Sweet Emotion' to the cheekiness of 'Love in an Elevator,' to the classic ballad 'Dream On' shows why Activision chose us to headline this game based on the diversity of the Aerosmith catalog. Not only is songwriting a bitch, but then it goes and has puppies."
Activision, I know the Guitar Hero series is your money-making baby now, but listen carefully...

2002 – EA and DICE release Battlefield 1942 and turn the multiplayer shooter genre on it's head by allowing players to recreate historic battles from World War 2. This begins a wave of sequels and clones attempting the same, using various real and fictional wars as a canvas for paintings that become nearly all the same game.
2008 – A multiplayer demo is released on Xbox Live for yet another Battlefield clone. This is it's story. This is Frontlines: Fuel of War.
